Well known for their popular children’s books: Teddy Bear Guardians of the Rain Forest, Butterfly Dreams, The Great West Virginia Snow Adventure, An Adventure in Writing, and their newest title, Veterans Reign in Their Own Parade co-authored with fifth graders from Rainelle Elementary School in Rainelle, WV, the Wachs will be discussing writing and illustrating books at the Folk Arts Camp.

The Wachs are also involved in a new book project with E. G. Bears titled, A Teddy Bear Helps on the Farm, to be released this fall. Delia Wach gave drawing workshops at the Ripley Fair and was delighted with the stories and drawings done the children. Many of these efforts are to be included in the upcoming new title. The Wachs were sponsored by Tamarack, the Best of West Virginia for the Ripley fair.
Delia Bowman Wach is a highly acclaimed watercolor and mixed-media artist who has fallen in love with painting Teddy Bears and their friends. She will be demonstrating during both events. In the early 1990's Delia's husband Martin went to Suriname, South America, for business and by chance met a Maroon Medicine Man. This led to a trip into the rain forest and meetings with the chiefs of the four Maroon Indian Tribes to discuss their need to create trade and commerce with America. As a result, Delia created teddy bear characters to tell the story of the importance of saving our Rain Forests and Martin helped to write the story. Thus, Teddy Bear Guardians of the Rain Forest was born.
Delia was commissioned by the National Park Trust to do a painting of Senator John McCain and presented it to him in June 2006 at their Centennial Celebration of the American Antiquities Act of 1906 Awards luncheon.
Martin and Delia Wach are in the top 2% of bestselling children’s book authors with their Teddy Bear Guardians of the Rain Forest books and are a favorite with the grade school set. They are sought after and very popular speakers and are dedicated to visiting school children to share their unique experiences and talents. They have inspired many to attain goals of environmental protection, careers in art and writing, and social consciousness. Their school program enhances the classroom and opens young minds to many possibilities and potential careers.
