Subject: "Be Whoooo You Are" theme of new
Children's Book

(Terra Alta) New release from Headline Books, We Are Whoooo We Are, by West Virginia teacher Melinda Chambers is 'right on' and encourages children to be happy with whoooo they are. Father owl teaches his son to be true to himself even though the owlet wants to be like a blue jay or a mockingbird or many other birds in the forest.

Melinda Chambers captures not only the importance of character education; she also introduces the science of birds and their habits. Captivating art work by Jane Lew resident Sue Ann Spiker will delight all readers. A companion workbook and coloring book/audio book to We Are Whoooo We Are details the birds in the story.

As part of Headline Kids School Show Program, Chambers will be traveling this year to West Virginia schools sharing her wonderful story with grade school students. 'I am looking forward to visiting schools this year,' says Chambers, 'my story can help children understand they are wonderful just as they are and help them make choices that are right for them.' She urges students to enhance their character, be true to themselves, and they will find life
unfolding successfully for them.

'Character education can be difficult to teach,' says publisher Cathy Teets, president of Headline Books. 'Melinda's book fits perfectly into our School Show Program. We publish children's books that not only entertain but educate in a fun way. The story of Father Owl and his owlet will charm the students and they will take away an excellent lesson that will guide them through the coming years'.

Melinda Spiker Chambers grew up in the rural mountains of central West Virginia. Receiving her BS from West Virginia University and MS from Ohio State University, she is currently a family and consumer sciences teacher in Romney, WV. She also writes an award-winning column, Homespun, for the Hampshire Review. Raised to have an appreciation for natural beauty, Melinda enjoys looking for the lessons that nature so abundantly teaches to those who take the time to listen.
