Headline Books Wins Two Silver Mom’s Choice Awards For Children’s Books

Longtime independent publisher has 16 titles bearing the Mom’s Choice seal

TERRA ALTA, W.Va. – The Mom’s Choice Awards has given two more Silver designations to children’s titles published by Headline Books Inc., recently named the International Independent Publisher of the Year by the London Book Festival.

My Horse Samson by teenage horsewoman Ashley Ball received a Silver Mom’s Choice Award for non-fiction books for children ages 9-12.

Everyone Has Hope by Jason Lynch, illustrated by Cole Hale, received a Silver Mom’s Choice Award for children’s picture books.

In My Horse Samson, Ball writes about how her family rescued two neglected mares in Preston County, W.Va. One of those horses had a foal, which she named Samson and trained to win ribbons in jumping events at the State Fair and beyond. Los Angeles Book Festival Honors 4 Headline Books Titles With Awards

The Los Angeles Book Festival has announced that four titles published by Headline Books Inc. in Terra Alta, W.Va., have won Honorable Mentions.

A new release by Headline Books, You’ve Got a Deal! The Biggest Lies of the Music Business by Jeffrey Weber, was awarded an Honorable Mention for non-fiction.

Teenage horsewoman Ashley Ball won an Honorable Mention in children’s books for My Horse Samson, the true story of the foal of a rescued horse that she trained as a champion in the jumping ring.

Two of Headline’s inspirational books, Wishing You by Dr. Lauren Nappen and Why Wait? by Rob Quillen, won Honorable Mentions in the spiritual category. Why Wait? is a title in the NASCAR Library Collection.

The DIY Book Festival, which honors the best self-published books and books released by independent publishers like Headline Books Inc., has announced this year’s winners.

A new release by Headline Books, You’ve Got a Deal! The Biggest Lies of the Music Business by Jeffrey Weber, was awarded an Honorable Mention for General Non-Fiction.

Breckenridge County by Andrew McNeill, another recent release, won an Honorable Mention for General Fiction.

Two of Headline’s NASCAR licensed titles also garnered Honorable Mentions: Funny Dan the Race Car Man by Tim Packman for Best Children's Book and Why Wait? by Rob Quillen for General Non-Fiction.




London Book Festival Issues Writ of Mandamus Top Honors

Headline Books Inc. Reaps Major Awards

LONDON – Rick Robinson’s political thriller Writ of Mandamus has been named the grand prize winner of the London Book Festival, which honors the best of international publishing.

Robinson’s fourth novel, which will be published later this year by Headline Books Inc., weaves from Washington, D.C., to the countryside of Ireland, following Congressman Richard Thompson and the CIA as they chase Middle Eastern conflict and Kentucky horses. Its page-turning prose and intriguing plot makes it an instant classic in Robinson’s series and promises to be optioned for other media.

Winners and honorable mentions in the competition will be honored at a dinner held Jan. 26, 2012, in London.

Headline Books also swept the Non-Fiction Winner’s Category with Many Genre’s One Craft: Lessons in Writing Popular Fiction edited by Heidi Ruby Miller and Michael A. Arnzen.
